ABSTRACT

Savage Tinder, 24x36,oil,2002

Savage Tinder

In 2002, Colorado was on fire. There were a minimum of eight fires burning throughout the state. The largest began as an illegal campfire near Denver, and there were several more on the western slope threatening towns of which I am quite fond.
Savage Tinder, my first true abstract, represented my concern for the state (which I still reference as "home") that was being ravaged by flames.
