Canyon Memories

I have a love of the canyons of Colorado, southeastern Utah and northern New Mexico.  My most memorable treks through the backcountry were spent exploring the colorful walls and corridors of hidden canyons.  The beauty can be breathtaking... the peace and serenity, perhaps born of the sense of isolation, is palpable.

Here's what the new owner of this piece had to say:

When guests walk into my home the first thing they point at when they enter the living room and ask "Did you paint that? It's BEAUTIFUL!" With pride I say, "No, this oil painting is a Suzy Sikora creation." The colors show the depth of the artist's soul with every stroke; the overall painting tells a lovely story. Suzy paints of things she has experienced and loves. That's what drew me to her painting and keeps me wanting more.

Antelope Canyon Spot Light

Another of the amazing structures in the West are what are known as "slot canyons."  These canyons are much like caves, in that the upper portion of the walls close in on each other.  Often there are windows to the sky where light streams in and, if you catch it at just the right time, it's as if a bright spot light illuminates the space.
